How to update email password on Apple iOS

(iPhone, iPad, iPod)

Use this document if you have changed your email password and need to update it on your Apple devices.

Step 1: From the home screen of your device find the app called ‘Settings. If you are not sure if you are on the home screen, press the button on the front of your device once to go there.

Step 2: Scroll down through the settings until you see "Passwords and Accounts" and then tap on it. It may be on the left hand side.  Touch your e-mail account on the next screen.

Step 3: Erase the dots that show up in the password field and type in the new one.

Step 4: Tap on ‘SMTP’ and then tap on the ‘Primary Server’ which should look like: smtp.hurontel.on.ca

Step 5: Either erase the dots that show up in the password field so you can type the new one, or fill in the password if it is currently empty. Make sure your username is filled in as well. Username = email address.

Step 6: Tap ‘Done’ at the top right and then tap at the top left (will look like ‘hurontel.on.ca’ or similar) to go back to the first password screen.

Step 7: Tap ‘Done’ at the top right one more time.

If this was successful you will no longer be in the account setup and can go back to your mail app (your inbox) to check if it is working.
