Sweet Woodruff Possibly my favourite, fragrant and shade loving ground cover.Small clumps bought off two wonderful wise crones at a Garden Market in Old South London several years ago, now spread profusely along the north side of our home, which receives no sun at all because of the large maple shade trees that surround us. I frequently snip a few whirls of leaves and place them in my dresser drawers, where the fragrance, not unsimilar to sweet grass, seems to grow bolder the more they wither away. | Red and White Trilliums My mother has lived in the woods on the South Shore of Lake Nipissing for 30 years. She very recently moved to London . We couldn't leave her dearly tended beds of trilliums, both white and red. Transplanted just before they bloomed, they will reside here until late fall or early next spring when they can be moved once again. Picture taken 05/12/99. |

Mother
of Thousands (or Silver Dollars) The hot pink of these early blooming silver dollars gives an almost fluoresent purple glow to the foliage around it, and compliments the bright yellow of the daffodils growing amongst them. Favourites because you only ever have to plant a bed of these bienniels and bulbs once, then enjoy every spring thereafter. Picture taken 05/10/99. |
| Apple Blossoms... Apple blossoms on old apple trees and a newly planted one in our small orchard, are exceptionally beautiful at this time of year. Along with the apple trees there are several variety of pear trees, an apricot, plum and a cherry tree. mmmmmm yummy pies. :-) |

Sweet Smelling Wild Flox Keith and I first discovered these flowers and their heady scent on our way home from work one day....the next day we brough shovels and literally filled the Tracker with clumps of the blossoming plants..We rolled up the windows and inhaled all the way home. Carefully transplanted here at MoonVeil... every spring in early May they joyfully remind us of the fun we had on that drive home from work. |
