Echinacea angustifolia
This native American perennial has beauty that is

active than other species. The plant grows 2-3 ft. high, with
single, stout, bristly, hairy stems. The large pink-purple
coneflowers, appear from July to October are beloved by
butterflies.
Medicinal Part: dried rhizome, root
Solvents: alcohol,
Uses:
Naturopaths maintain Echinacea as a natural herbal antitoxin and
immune booster. Echinacea is natures natural antibiotic and works
by activating leukocytes (white blood cells which fight
infection) and T-cell formation that assist the healing process,
raise the body's immune level and encourage wounds to heal. It
also inhibits the hyalurinodase enzyme which causes the spread of
bacteria. Thus it is one of the most powerful and effective
remedies against all kinds of bacterial and viral infections and
inflammations. Large doses can be taken because it is not toxic,
although it has been found that after taking Echinacea
continuously for about 10 days its effectiveness lessens. It is
wise to take herbs only as they are needed.
Echinacea is a wonderful blood cleanser, effective for blood
poisoning and toxicity, cancer and other poisonous conditions,
Externally, Echinacea is excellent for all venomous bites such as
snake, insect and spider, poison oak and ivy, boils, cuts wounds
and other skin infections and for teething.
